Data Centre Migration
datacentre racksTechahedron is all set to move its servers from the existing location in London Docklands to a new Data Centre in Maidenhead. The changeover will take place on Friday 18th May 2007 between 23.00 and 07.00 during which time all of our hosted sites will be offline.

We realise this is a significant move, and have sent documents out to all clients affected to explain the reasons behind the move, and to address any concerns. This new site will be a significant step forward in the levels of service we provide you, and an exciting development for Techahedron and its clients.

In summary, the main reasons for the move were to be able to maintain an onsite presence, avoid massive rent increases and have a larger working space to offer wider services.

The move will not affect the performance of servers or the hosted sites. There are two dedicated 10 gigabit DWDM links, running over fibre directly between London and Maidenhead. The network is entirely redundant, and there is less than a thousandth of a second of latency to the London Internet Exchange (LINX).

Another benefit is the increased security of the new site. Unlike the London Docklands sites, there is digitally recorded CCTV on every aisle, and an exterior perimeter security fence. Employees monitor the CCTV 24/7, providing significantly improved security.

Every care will be taken to make this a smooth transistion and while the documents we have sent out should answer most questions for our clients if you have any specific concerns please contact us.
